Our history

Our Souvenirs-Shop is a straight family business in the 3. generation. Mrs Hedy Linke opened in 1933 her first Shop in the oldtown of cologne. It was located at the street “Am Hof corner Unter Taschenmacher“.The beginning of a family tradition and a story of success.
Unfortunetly this shop was completely destroyed in the 2. worldwar, so she had to wait and opened another store in the street „Am Hof“.Due to building work she was forced once again to move and launched her 3. store at „Unter Taschenmacher“.
Her son Hans Peter Linke and his wife Roswitha Linke continued the story of success and took over the family business in 1966. In 1970 a chance with a promising future came up, they knew it was an once in lifetime chance, so they jumped at that chance and moved with the shop closer to the cathedral. The new address and location was and still is “Am Hof 28“.
Barbara Linke, the daughter of Hans Peter and Roswitha, was the next one, who joined the family business in 2000 and last but not least Gregor Linke, the son in 2009. There were a lot of modernizations over the years. The last was in may 2012.
The secret of our business is in the mix of young and old…. We profit from the enormous experience of the older generation made over the years plus the young generation with its new ideas, marketing and modern aspects of business administration. Eventually our customers have the benefit of this balanced teamwork.

Our Souvenirs Shop is located close by the cathedral. The cathedral is the biggest tourist attraction and sight in Germany and it represents the city of cologne. It is the third highest church in the world and was the highest building in the world till 1884. The commencement of construction for this gothic cathedral was at august the 12. in 1248, but it was finished in 1880. So the construction phase was more than 630 years. In 1996 the church became part of the UNESCO-World Cultural Heritage. The huge area of the west front and the 2 towers has 7.110 sqarefeet. Our Souvenirs-Shop and the cologne cathedral have survived the 2. worldwar and the world economic crisis and now we are more glamorous than ever. So, why don‘t you come by and have a look???
